Childbirth: A Global Perspective is a free online course offered by the Neil Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University. Students will spend 6 weeks completing the program requirements, and the class is intended for students who already have some knowledge of public health issues in developing countries. The coursework is presented in the form of readings and videos with 6 hours of study required weekly for success in the program. Each week, participants will need to complete a graded quiz related to the course material, and there is a final culminating peer-reviewed research project due at the end of the class. During the course, students will learn about the challenges that pregnant women and newborns face in developing countries and discover how the risks of infant and maternal mortality are being mitigated.
